Maryland Chamber of Commerce

Website Redesign

Scope: Digital Strategy, Information Architecture, Responsive Design, Drupal CMS

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce is Maryland’s leading statewide business advocacy organization with 750 member companies. The organization was looking to revamp its website to better engage its key constituencies and to improve the website’s design, content management function and overall user experience.

The challenge was to organize a high volume of constantly changing content in a way that would make information engaging and accessible by those who need it: prospective and current members, legislators, local chambers and members of the media.

The home page is designed as a gateway for all key user groups so they may quickly and easily access information that is relevant to them. Its highly structured layout and a strong visual hierarchy of design elements allow the Chamber to present a large amount of content without making the site appear cluttered or overwhelming.

The overall clean and modern design utilizes the Chamber’s corporate color palette, and the real-life photography and video throughout the site contribute to a professional, credible, yet “human” look and feel. The site is responsive across all devices.

Website’s features and functionality include member management and integration with the association management software, event management and event calendar (chamber’s and community), member directories and member-only content, and interactive economic competitiveness dashboard.

Substance151 helped us move from a disconnected and disorganized patchwork of multiple websites and content management systems to a unified web presence that is easier to manage and outperforms the old site in every way. We are very thankful to have found a partner whose strategic thinking and creativity helped us align the goals of our website redesign with our overall marketing and communications goals. The Substance151 team was responsive, knowledgeable and easy to work with. We are thrilled with the results.
